“Say. Surely my prayer and my sacrifice and my life and my death are (all) for Allah, the Lord of the worlds;” – Quran, 6:162
The one who admits to being a servant of Allah is always ready to give his life to Allah. He acknowledges that he belongs to Allah, and to Him he shall return (Quran, 2:156). He directs his actions, thoughts and goals back to Allah. It is the deeper meaning of Tawheed- uniting all our actions, thoughts and goals to the One God, without association or compromise.
If we are His servants, then do we do what we say? When we talk about our life ambitions, what do we think about? When we think of doing something, do we think how this action leads to Allah? After reading this post, what’s the next thing you will do? And for what? With all the time we have, the money we have, the families and happiness we have- all that Allah has provided to us as amanah (trust)- do we use them in the way of Allah?
To direct all our actions, thoughts and goals to Allah, is not an easy task. Neither has the writer of this post been successful in it. To be able to do such a thing would achieve the level of Ibraham (as), when he has submitted literally everything to Allah, even if it means having to sacrifice his own son.
Nevertheless, we must always strive for it, if we admit we are servants (abd) of Allah. This is what we have been created for (Quran, 51:56).Allah will not impose a burden that we cannot bear (Quran, 2:286).
“But those who hold fast to the Book and establish prayer – indeed, We will not allow to be lost the reward of the reformers.” – Quran, 7:170
